Phillips, John M. “Milton” Freeland, Michigan
Passed away Friday morning May 11, 2012 at his home in Freeland after a brief illness at the age of 83 years. Milton was born May 19, 1928 to the late Jess and Blanche (Davis) Phillips in Idalia, CO and has lived in this area most of his life. Milton was a member of the Saginaw First Church of the Nazarene; he was owner/operator of Quality Drywall in Saginaw for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Milton was also a member of Gideon’s International. On November 9, 1952 Milton married Ramona K. Antell; she predeceased him on July 9, 2006. Then on August 5, 2007 Milton married Ortelle “Dee” Rees, she survives him. Also surviving are three children; John M. Phillips Jr. of Miami, FL , Betty (Richard) Hodges of Thompsons Station, TN, Paul (Amy) Phillips of Westfield, IN. Six grandchildren; Korey, Casey, Emily, Tyler, Raelyn, Joel, three great grandchildren; Jacob, Joseph, Nicholas, one brother; Ronald (Carolyn) Phillips of Monument, CO, two sisters; Violet Myers and Virginia Strait both of Wray, CO. Two brothers; Robert Phillips, Jess Phillips Jr. and three sisters; Helen Lorenzen, Hazel Myers and Grace Connor have predeceased Milton.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday May 19, 2012 at the Freeland United Methodist Church, Freeland. Rev. John Obrecht will officiate. Per Milton’s request cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Freeland United Methodist Church, 205 E. Washington St., Freeland on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
