Brusen, James H. Midland, Michigan
Passed away Friday evening May 25, 2012 at Covenant HealthCare-Harrison in Saginaw after a lengthy illness at the age of 64 years. James was born July 4, 1947 in Royal Oak, MI to the late Harold W. and Esther M. (Reynolds) Brusen and has resided in this area most of his life. James was an avid pilot and Harley Davidson rider. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. James served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1966-1969. He worked at Saginaw Machine as a machine builder for 17 years. James retired from the State of Michigan MIOSHA on November 1, 2010 after 20 years of service. On May 26, 1971 James married Deborah L. Coburn, she survives him. James is also survived by his two sons; Derek M. Brusen of Jacksonville, FL and Staff SGT Jared (Maria) Brusen of Salt Lake City, UT, three grandchildren; Karli, Niklas, Payton and a brother; David Brusen of Sterling Heights, MI. A brother; Donald Brown has predeceased James.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2012 at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, Freeland, MI. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Burial will take place on Friday June 1, 2012 at the Newaygo City Cemetery in Newaygo, MI at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and then on Thursday from Noon until time of service. Military honors will be held at the cemetery on Friday June 1, 2012. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or the donor’s favorite charity.
