Hebel, Herman E. of Auburn, Michigan. Herman died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region, Bay City at the age of 91. He was born October 23, 1920 to the late Herman and Amanda Hebel in Detroit. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wasp (CV-18) in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He resided in Beaver Twp. most of his life. He was a member of St. Valentine Catholic Church (Kawkawlin). Herman retired from The Dow Chemical Company after 26 years. On April 24, 1954 he married Dawn F. Seidler. She predeceased him on July 29. 2009. He is survived by his children: Greg (Roxanne) Hebel, Debra (Robert) Philipp, Randy (Diana) Hebel, and Michelle (William) Retzloff, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are 1 brother, Clarence and 6 sisters, Gertrude, Adeline, Rose, Lou, Lily, and Betty. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, (his twin brother) Robert, Arthur, Herbert, and Gerald and 1 sister, Doris. Herman was a devoted Tigers and Red Wing fan. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Valentine Catholic Church (Parish and 9 Mile Rds.) Kawkawlin. Rev. Fr. Jerzy Dobosz and Deacon Michael Arnold will officiate, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Herman’s family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Friday June 22, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00. On Saturday morning, Herman will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of liturgy. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, envelopes for St. Valentine Catholic Church, Beaver Twp. Fire and Rescue, or family’s wishes will be available at the funeral home.
