William D. Martin

William Douglas Martin age 79 of Auburn, Michigan passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012. William was born October 2, 1932 in Bellingham, Washington. He lived in Seattle, Washington as a young man and moved to Auburn Michigan in 1967. He married Eleanor Piotowski of Pinconning, Michigan in 1961. Together they created a family, Michael Alvin who preceded him in death in 1967, Joseph & Jackie Martin of Hudsonville, Michigan and Julie & Roger Ellison of Midland, Michigan. William’s family continued to grow and he became the proud grandfather of six grandchildren; Diana & Austin Hoekstra, Noelle Martin, Joseph & Nikki Martin, Gabrielle Martin all of Wyoming, Michigan, Emily and Danielle Ellison of Midland, Michigan. William is also survived by a sister Diana Page of Aurora, Colorado and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Martin and Della & Arne Martinson, brother Robert Martin and sister Barbara Stevens. William was also preceded in death by a son Douglas Martin of Seattle, Washington and is survived by granddaughter Jaime Benson of Seattle, Washington. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Friday June 29, 2012 at Cunningham Taylor Funeral Home in Auburn, Michigan. The viewing will be at St. Valentine Catholic Church in Beaver on Saturday June 30, 2012 at 9:00 am, mass will follow at 10:00 am. The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan. The family wishes to express sincere and heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Strafford Village in Midland, Michigan. The staff at Strafford played a large component in creating a family environment and made Bill’s last two years enjoyable and special.
