Passed away Monday morning May 14, 2012 at the Newberry Hospital in Newberry, SC after a brief illness at the age of 63 years. James was born in Saginaw, MI on May 24, 1948 to the late Donald and Marie (Proux) Poulos and has resided in this area for most of his life. James worked at Steering Gear Plant 6 for 33 years, retiring in October 1999. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1976 with a degree in Special Education, was an avid sports fan, especially Michigan State Teams and was an avid hunter and fisherman. James served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On January 9, 1982 he married Sharon L. Munger, she survives him. Also surviving are a son: Jon (Donna) Horning of Newberry, SC, two daughters; Rene McAllum of Saginaw, Romona (Larry) Sullivan of Wyoming, MI. Nine grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, three brothers; Rick (Cyndy) Poulos of Cadillac, MI, Gary (Norma) Poulos of Roscommon, MI, Randy (Linda) Poulos of Mesa, AZ. And two sisters; Lori Munger of Beaverton, MI, Jayne Martinez of Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday May 21, 2012 at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, Freeland, MI. Rev. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with Entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw to follow. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland, MI on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Heart Association or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1859 in Carrollton.Military Honors will take place after the committal at the cemetery on Monday.
